I can think of many popular songs about cars, and even a few about trains and airplanes. But, the only song I can think of about bicycles is "Daisy Bell".

Can anyone else think of one?

I searched for music hall songs, reasoning that Daisy Bell would have been a product of an era when bicycles were a new popular phenomenon:

Salute My Bicycle

Judging by the cover on the sheet music, the song also deals with the fabulous novelty of Ladies riding bicycles and wearing (shock!) bloomers! The hussies. I like the additional info which says that the singer also sang another song about bloomers, called "It's a good job I had these on"

[Big Grin]

ETA: When I saw the title of this thread I was expecting songs about Botany Bay!

I'm not sure if this would count. I saw her doing this live on TV and she kept singing that there were nine million "bycles" in Beijing. So would a song about "bycles" count?

Excellent, we're allowed to sing it in public without fee or license, except at theatres and music halls! Hooray!

I wonder how one would go about "chi-iking"? I wouldn't want to seem rude by omitting to do so the next time I encounter a lady on a bike. I suppose I could shout "Wot cher bass" instead, but I have a feeling the delivery boy might be being cheeky.

The only one I thought of myself was 'Riding On My Bike' by Madness. It's a variation on their 'Driving In My Car' song, or vice versa.

To completely ruin the fun of the thread, here's an exhaustive online list of songs about bicycles: CLICK
