I was plesantly surprised that none of "The Fast and the Furious" cars made the list, but come on, Herbie deserves more than just an honorable mention.

I think the rental car that played the automobile in "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" should have made the "worst" list. That thing was so badly trashed, but it really didn't look much worse than before. I'll give it this, not too many cars would still be able to run after being totally burnt out like that.

Wrong. The nuclear(later fusion)/electric part of the DeLorean is just for the flux capacitor. It still uses the gasoline engine to drive with. I'm not sure what it uses to fly with, but the driving is very much gasoline.
*Spoiler ahead*
That is why Doc and Marty have to use a train to get it up to 88 mph after the Native American arrows pierce the fuel line.

What? No mention of the Bandit's Trans Am? Come on, it's even on display at the Burt Reynolds museum!

Awww....no mention of KITT from "Knight Rider," (Although I admit that wasn't a movie), or the Lotus Espirt from "The Spy Who Loved Me," (bad movie, GREAT car), or the Gulf Porsche 917 from "Le Mans," or the '68 Ford Mustang from "Bullit."
But at least the General Lee didnt make the cut. Thank God.

Very bottom, under "Honorable Mentions." I agree it deserves more recognition than that, as does Herbie the Love Bug.

They probably wanted to put only one Bond car on the list, and if you can only pick one Bond car it just has to be the Aston Martin DB5. That car is a thing of beauty.

You might want to take a second look at the list:

The "general Lee" is from the TV show- although, yes, they could have had it from the movie. But whe I first think of that, I think of the show.
I was surprised the Trans Am ("Trigger") From SATB wasn't in the list- although I'm glad it got an honorable mention. I freaking LOVE that car!!!

What an insult! Not only do the Italian Job Mini Coopers only get 10th place, but reading the blurb reveals that they're talking about the minis from the remake! It's a fix.

I would add: The Yellow Rolls Royce. Unfortunately I can't find any pictures, least of all a picture in colour. I think you can just about see the car in the picture in the linked article...
You could also put in the Dodge Challenger from Vanishing Point. They got through several while making the film.

I read the other day that the film owes its existence to the Dodge Challenger - apparently Dodge gave the cars to the studio on condition they made a film with it in.

And I also can't believe I forgot Genevieve. Classic.
Did anyone mention Greased Lightning?
This thread also made me think of Heart LIke A Wheel, which I saw once on TV when I was a kid and loved. But that's less about the pink drag racing car, and more about its driver. Still...

But that's just the incarnation of Herbie from the new Herbie, Fully Loaded movie. The original Herbie received an honorable mention at the bottom of the 10 best list.

I remember seeing that one at the drive-in when new, and the advertising said something like "See the 197X Dodge Challenger perform" Indeed it did.

How about the 1964 Chevrolet Malibu sedan that plays a central role in Repo Man ? It deserves at least an honorable mention.
